The Adam Rogers Care Team is now fully integrated into Addenbrooke’s Paediatric Oncology Department

The Adam Rogers Cancer Care team, initially funded by the Adam Rogers Trust, has now been fully integrated into Addenbrooke’s Paediatric Oncology Department and the NHS. The team of nine is headed up by Dr Carolina Perez a Paediatric Palliative Care consultant.

Addenbrooke’s Paediatric Oncology team look after sick children from all over the East of England, providing award-winning patient care. The Addenbrooke’s Paediatric Oncology Team receive between 120 and 140 new patients a year and at any time will be managing the care of around 800 sick children in the East of England. Along with the region’s population growth, these numbers are rising.

The Adam Rogers Cancer Care team was set up in response to a request from Addenbrooke’s Paediatric Oncology team for the Adam Rogers Trust to provide the initial 3 year funding for a specialist team to improve the overall care and treatment of children with cancer. This team’s key role was to improve the coordination of out-patient treatment between Addenbrooke’s and local Hospitals and GP Surgeries. It was also set up to improve support for both patients and their families during treatment.

Next steps for the Charity:-

As we continue to support Addenbrooke’s we are now looking at ways of helping adults with learning difficulties to live and work in the community. This is a big challenge for a small charity with limited resources, but we are determined to make a positive contribution in this field. We are currently assessing a number of options and will announce our plans once we have completed our research.

The Adam Rogers Trust was established in 2007 and is a registered charity No. 1118801
